Where Can I Find A Usb Pci Card With Drivers For A Beige Mac G3 266? Site:Discussions.Apple.Com10/24/2021
When I put the OS X (10.2) disks in, they don't boot.Surprisingly, generic USB cards have been among the better-performing cards in the Beige. Even the G-cards with the dreaded OPTI chipset seem to work OK. I don't know why the Belkin cards have been so troublesome with the same chipset. DVD drive for Beige Power Mac G3 tower. Hey everyone I own a Beige Power Mac G3 tower with a 266 MHz PPC G3, Rev. A ROM, 768 MB RAM, 80 GB HDD, and I gave it an ATI Radeon 7000 graphics card with 64 MB of VRAM and a Firewire 400 card. But I want to know for sure before I spend the money. I'm a broke musician and the $50 is even too much to spend, but I can't be without a working machine. I have data backe up now so I can just wipe the current drives and reinstall the OS if necessary.I'm curious about these cube-machines, but do they have PCI slots? I mean, can I open them up and deal with them (upgrade, add things, etc) the way I would a desktop or tower? By the way, what is MT? Someone mentioned that.I can't afford $400 either, but it seems I'm being forced to make a change here. Thanks in advance. It is currently running Mac.So, the get-a-new-(stripped)-machine advice is timely as my G3 crashed and won't be resurrected by any means I can find.

My main issue is with the Powermac, and that it will not recognize or format disks (both floppies and CDs).If given a floppy with data on it (both Mac and PC formatted, and both accepted on the Performa), it only gives a message to initialize the disk, and only in Mac 800K or DOS 800k. Currently have come across a Performa 6200CD and a Powermac G3 266Mhz. So rather an odd question, but I have been unable to locate any information relating any similar issue to what I am experiencing. OS 10.2.8: Using 2 120 GB Hard Drives partitioned 7.7GB and remainder. Also have installed USB, Firewire Card plus ATA CardAs advised, I found a b&w G3 for $50. ![]() At least 10+ years ago, when I was upgrading hardware on my beige G3s, I had good luck with a Toshiba combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, a Lite-On CD-RW, and Pioneer DVD±RW drive. If the optical drive has been upgraded with a CD-R/RW drive, some third-party ATAPI drives didn't function well in Apple computers, so inserted disks would spin up and down, as the drive attempted to make sense of the disk. As for CDs, are these burned CD-R/CD-RW disks or commercially-produced disks? Some beige G3s shipped with a 24x Matshita CD-ROM drive, while some shipped with (the better) Sony CD-ROM drive. My main issue is with the Powermac, and that it will not recognize or format disks (both floppies and CDs)."Just for clarification, I assume that you mean the G3 won't read/write/format floppy disks and won't recognize CDs. Download frp bypass apk for android 51The only strange thing is that for the floppies, it only gives options for formatting in 800k, despite the floppies being 1.4 MB and working on the Performa just fine. The current CD drive appears to be the original Apple one, but it ended up being only a CD-ROM drive. Yes, the G3 will recognize that a floppy/CD has been inserted, but it only prompts to format the disks, as if blank. Unfortunately, the 6200 has a SCSI CD-ROM drive, but the beige G3s had an ATAPI drive. Thanks for the advice, Jeff. If you need directions on removing the front bezel on the 6200 to remove the FDD, post back. I think you should consolidate the best working parts into the G3, so I'd suggest removing the floppy disk drive from the Performa and transfer it to the G3, since it's a compatible swap. This way, with luck, you may be able to make the drive work for a short while (while externally connected to another Mac), thus possibly allowing the recovery of a few extra files. The computer was used between the mid-80's to late-90's, at which point it was never turned on again until 2009 (after rediscovering it while clearing out storage). It could be an issue with an actuator arm, etc. The "Recovering Data from a Defective Disk Drive" section at could perhaps be of interest to you.If everything else fails, and without too much to lose, you may even want to experiment with opening the drive. Everything ( ) would be only one example (but the version on the home page needs at least a 68020 processor).
